Stabilizers
Our geothermal stabilizers are all integral blade, one-piece bodies, built from either 4145M carbon steel or high-quality domestic or European non-magnetic steel forgings. They are available with either straight blade or spiral blade orientation. These stabilizers can be ordered with either "directional friendly" profiles or standard profiles. The "directional friendly" profile consists of reduced crown length and long, gradual tapers from the crown to the neck. This configuration provides a high TFA and smooth sliding tendencies while reducing vibration and torque. The standard profile provides extended wall contact with TCI inserts which provides better wear characteristics and longer life in hard, abrasive formations typical of geothermal drilling.
Also available are non-rotating stabilizers utilizing 4145M/4140H carbon steel mandrels with polyurethane stabilizer sleeves. These sleeves are molded over a steel insert and have a shore hardness of 95A, and can withstand temperatures up to 350°F.
